Laminate Installation

Step 1 - Making your Best Laminate Flooring Choice

Laminate flooring is perfect for high-traffic areas and active families. We offer many options of laminate flooring brands to help you choose the best flooring for your home. The backing provides stability to the laminate, protects against moisture and keeps the floor even. The core layer is a high-density board that helps prevent indentations. The design layer is the look of the laminate chosen. The top wear layer is to protect everything underneath from stains, burns and fading.

Step 2 - Getting Rid of Any Existing Flooring and Obstacles

Our installers remove any furniture or obstacles that are in the space, they also remove the old flooring and the mouldings. The floor must be clear before the new flooring is installed.

Step 3 - Checking and preparing the sub-floor

Concrete sub-floors become problematic over time. Uneven sub-flooring leads to uneven laminate flooring. Our installers can fix this by using self-levelling screed to even out the sub-floor.

Step 4 - Installing an Underlayer

Installing an underlay over the sub-floor is useful. It provides an even base for your laminate installation and it protects the laminate from moisture, which will cause your laminate to buckle or warp over time. The plywood needs to acclimate to your home’s humidity and temperature before installation, if this is omitted it may lead to problems with your laminate in the future.

Step 5 - Preparing the Laminate

Just like the underlay, laminates must be allowed to acclimate to your home. Laminates that have been stored at temperatures colder than those in your home will change shape as they warm up. The acclimatisation takes 1-2 days before it is ready for installation.

Step 6 - Installing the Laminate

Modern laminates do not require a hammer to place them properly; in fact, many laminates simply click together. Even though a laminate is acclimated to a living space, there will still be some expansion. To account for this, extra space is left around the edges of the room.

Step 7 - Enjoy!

It is time for you to enjoy your new carpet!

Laminates Maintenance

Laminate flooring pairs the beauty of natural wood with easy, carefree maintenance. You will get years of beautiful performance from your laminate floor with a little preparation and know-how.

With its smooth surface structure, laminate cannot absorb dirt or dust, however, use protective window coverings to block fade-causing UV rays and excessive heat from direct sunlight, and rearrange rugs and furniture periodically to help your floor age evenly. During inclement weather, avoid exposing your flooring to water as much as possible.

Never apply layers of wax or varnish to laminates.

Dry maintenance: by using a vacuum cleaner or fleece mop.

Wet maintenance: AVOID EXCESSIVE QUANTITIES OF WATER AT ALL TIMES. Use a properly wrung-out mop. Always dry afterwards.

Mop with clean water or classical household soap.

You can also use a laminate maintenance product dissolved in water. This product cleans thoroughly and leaves a matt-satin shine.

Carefully remove persistent stains with a suitable cleaning product (e.g., acetone or white spirit). Never use scouring products. Applying cleaner directly to the surface of the laminate can cause staining—lightly spray it on a cleaning cloth or damp mop instead.
